Talisman Sounds - Great Music, Great Artists

Splott Bottom Boys

When Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney) and Delmar O’Donnell (Tim Blake Nelson) escaped from a chain gang in the Cohen Brothers film “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, they sparked a renewed wide-spread interest in the traditional American folk roots music of the depression era

When they set out to retrieve the treasure that Everett claims to have stolen and buried before his incarceration, their adventures included recording the outstanding “Man of Constant Sorrow” and further memorable performances including such classics as “I’ll Fly Away” and “Keep on the Sunny Side”

Everyone who has seen the film will appreciate the music of the Splott Bottom Boys, who take an enjoyable trip through the songs made famous by the hit movie but also the popular tunes by Seeger, Leadbelly, Steve Earle and other traditional songwriters, and the best of more recent compositions

The Splott Bottom Boys display their musical versatility as they play guitars, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, rubboard and more keeping the audience singing, clapping and foot-tapping along. Expect to be surprised and entertained

From the Cotton Fields to the Big Rock Candy Mountain, on the Freight Train and the Erie Canal, with Duelling Banjos and Mandolin Wind, the Splott Bottom Boys are no curators of musical museum pieces; they bring the songs to life with enthusiasm and humour
